Consumption or Creation?

The difference between a TV and a computer is that you can make things on a computer. Content consumption vs. content creation.

Consumption vs. creation is a good weather gauge for youthwork. Bonding through shared experience vs. building through intentional mentoring. Either without the other falls short.

Earlier this week a letter appeared in the Wall Street Journal bearing this good reminder:

Effective leadership requires developing a positive vision of the future which excites imagination and generates enthusiasm.

In YOUthwork, we refer to that positive vision as a “description of a discipled person” (ideas 11 and 14). Develop a solid description of what a discipled student looks like and the right blend of consumption vs. creation required to get there will be a no-brainer.
