Obnoxious or sinful?

If someone rubs you the wrong way, is he sinful?

Let’s say you know someone stubborn. And insensitive. And demanding. And abrasive. This person provokes you — and everyone else. No one wants to work projects together or share seats on a bus.

Is this person being sinful?

We come down pretty hard on people we don’t like. At best we pray “about” them and at worst we shun, backbite, and loathe them.

Is God also annoyed at such people?

Here’s the most surprising missionary story we’ve ever read: Lords of the Earth, by Don Richardson. Want a new perspective on obnoxious people? Carve out a few hours to absorb this inspiring tale.

I’m a husband and father, follower of Jesus Christ, and member of the Moody Publishers team. I've worked with gifted authors and their books for thirty-plus years, and I believe the local church is where we become the kind of people who reveal what Jesus is like. Since this is my personal blog, the views and opinions expressed herein are my own, not those of my employer. However — books, publishing, the work of the church, and learning to follow Jesus are central to my daily experience, so that's what this blog is about. Thanks for visiting! Paul
