Jesus Christ is returning. What should we do?

It’s a crucial question for everyone. This isn’t merely a Christian event; it’s a human event. The Person who created us, joined human history as one of us, and died to cancel the curse against us (e.g., sin), is coming back to bring us to His house.

When we’re preparing for guests, we think of everything. Cleaning the house, preparing food, planning conversations and activities they’ll enjoy, and even setting up the guest room if they’re out-of-towners. It’s all a delight because we love spending time with them. We anticipate their coming long before they arrive, and we think about them as we prepare.

According to the Bible, this is what Jesus is doing right now.* He’s preparing His place for those of us who accept His invitation to come. This is worth considering since Jesus is credited with creating the entire Universe (John 1:1-3).

Usually, our guests are also planning. They’re getting directions to our house, deciding what to wear, and discussing what to bring (e.g., flowers, a dish of something delicious, a favorite book, etc.).

What about us? What should we do? First, we can accept His invitation to come. Then, we get to learn more about Him and what matters to Him (e.g., love God, love our neighbors). Partnering with someone is the best way to know them, and what better partner is there than the One who is Love?
