There are two reasons to follow Jesus Christ. First, He is God. He created you and loves you. Following Him and sharing in His redemptive work is the life you were meant to live.
The second reason is the flip side of the first. He will be the first person you see when you pass from this life, and you will immediately kneel before Him and acknowledge that He is God.
Put yourself in that moment. It is coming, and as you are kneeling before Him you will care with your entire being what He says to you. It will be one of two things. Either,
Well done, good and faithful servant!
Or,
I never knew you; depart from me.
These are the primary reasons to follow Jesus Christ. He is worthy of your love and life, and to reject His lordship is to reject His love, acceptance, and forgiveness.
Whether you’re eager to follow His lead, or at least want to know more about Him before deciding, this journey through the Gospels will be time well spent. We’ll do this chronologically, beginning with Luke’s opening remarks.
